Secret Plan To Kill Internet By 2012: Leaked?

June 11, 2008 http://www.infowars.com/?p=2640 ISP's have resolved to restrict the Internet to a TV-like subscription model where users will be forced to pay to visit selected corporate websites by 2012, while others will be blocked, according to a leaked report. Despite some people dismissing the story as a hoax, the wider plan to kill the traditional Internet and replace it with a regulated a More.. nd controlled Internet 2 is manifestly provable. "Bell Canada and TELUS (formerly owned by Verizon) employees officially confirm that by 2012 ISP's all over the globe will reduce Internet access to a TV-like subscription model, only offering access to a small standard amount of commercial sites and require extra fees for every other site you visit. These 'other' sites would then lose all their exposure and eventually shut down, resulting in what could be seen as the end of the Internet," warns a report that has spread like wildfire across the web over the last few days. The article, which is accompanied by a You Tube clip, states that Time Magazine writer "Dylan Pattyn" has confirmed the information and is about to release a story - and that the move to effectively shut down the web could come as soon as 2010. People have raised questions about the report's accuracy because the claims are not backed by another source, only the "promise" that a Time Magazine report is set to confirm the rumor. Until such a report emerges many have reserved judgment or outright dismissed the story as a hoax. What is documented, as the story underscores, is the fact that TELUS' wireless web package allows only restricted pay-per-view access to a selection of corporate and news websites. This is the model that the post-2012 Internet would be based on. People have noted that the authors of the video seem to be more concerned about getting people to subscribe to their You Tube account than fighting for net neutrality by prominently featuring an attractive woman who isn't shy about showing her cleavage. The vast majority of the other You Tube videos hosted on the same account consist of bizarre avante-garde satire skits on behalf of the same people featured in the Internet freedom clip. This has prompted many to suspect that the Internet story is merely a stunt to draw attention to the group. Whether the report is accurate or merely a crude hoax, there is a very real agenda to restrict, regulate and suffocate the free use of the Internet and we have been documenting its progression for years. The first steps in a move to charge for every e mail sent have already been taken. Under the pretext of eliminating spam, Bill Gates and other industry chieftains have proposed Internet users buy credit stamps which denote how many e mails they will be able to send. This of course is the death knell for political newsletters and mailing lists. Less..

Sony has slashed prices on PS3 by some 17% and increased capacity from 60GB to 80GB in an attempt to compete with the Wii. The current model will be reduced by $100, the upgrade will still be $599. Microsoft is also cutting prices in an attempt to compete with the others. No word yet as to when and how much. It seems MSN has made some impact in search, increasing from 8.4% in May to 13.2% in June. Many are touting their move in offering prizes through the club.live.com. I personally attribute a lot of it to the fact that many users find it difficult to change the default search through Vista and IE7 WORLD WIDE WEB MSN are claiming the crown for the largest online event in history with some 30 million (15 during the show and 15 since) views online. Robert Levitan, Pando on P4P

osted on Sunday, May 04, 2008 www.beet.tv Industry Study: P2P Lowers Operating Costs for ISP's and Accelerates Speeds to Consumers In the span of just six months, peer-to-peer (P2P) companies have gone from being the bane of Internet Service Providers (ISP's) to emerging as a practical solution for managing network traffic and maximizing profits for the ISP's and content creators. A great deal of collaboration is underway including the efforts of Comcast and BitTorrent. NBC is reading its video download service with a P2P component from Pando Networks. Tomorrow in Los Angeles at the P2P Media Summit, held in conjunction with Digital Hollywood, leaders in the P2P and media industry will gather to discuss the implementation of P2P. As an indication of the of how legitimate this has all become, the Bob Pisano, COO of the Motion Picture Association of America will speak. A number of guidelines from a working group will be released by the Distributed Computing Industry Association. Robert Levitan, CEO of Pando Networks, is a member of the 60-company working group. He will give a keynote address tomorrow. I caught up with him on Friday in Manhattan's Madison Park for a chat about the work of the DCIA and the findings of the group. In tests conducted of the past months by Pando, Robert told Beet.TV that P2P has clearly demonstrated that network operating costs can be reduced and the speed of delivery to the consumer increased. Some of these findings were published last month. We have been following Pando from a while. The company has shifted its business from providing a desktop P2P consumer application to becoming a P2P solution provider to content creators and network operators. Pando recently raised $8 million in an additional funding round from Intel Capital and others. This is Robert's fourth start-up. He was the co-founder if iVillage. Great to have him on the show again. BEET.TV IS GOING TO HOLLYWOOD! We are heading out to LA early tomorrow morning to cover Digit

Eric Klinker BitTorrent

Posted on Saturday, April 26, 2008 www.beet.tv BitTorrent & Comcast are Working on Technology to "Speed the delivery of video in the years to come".....and P2P is Green! Half of Internet traffic is carried on peer-to-peer networks. For Internet Service Providers handling this traffic, new network management technologies are being explored and implemented. After the highly publicized "throttling" of P2P traffic by Comcast and a subsequent FCC inquiry and Congressional uproar, Comcast and BitTorrent have entered into a pact to to develop technology to properly manage P2P traffic. Comcast announced a separate initiative with P2P platform Pando. Earlier this week in Manhattan at the Contentinople conference, I interviewed Eric Klinker, CTO of San Francisco-based BitTorrent. He explained that his company is working closely with Comcast and other ISP's in solving network traffic issues. The work is also future leaning. In this interview, he says BitTorrent is working with ISP's on a "new generation" technology which will "significantly speed the delivery of video in the years to come." We didn't get details, but this will be something to follow. P2P is Green! Since I interviewed Eric on April 22, Earth Day, I asked about the environmental value of P2P technology. He explained that P2P can deliver and scale the video needs of the Net without the addition of a single energy-hogging server farm. Update: For an in depth look at the use of file sharing programs around the globe, check out this new report by TorrentFreak. -- Andy Plesser

Woke up in the morning and encoded another viddler video. Made a sweet banner for acydlord's website. Watched The Lab with Leo & House. ITSMYCRAP kept me up rather late. =P I made a store for ITSMYCRAP , which Mark eventually took over. I called another ISP today. Very frustrating! I cleaned my fish tank and also had a very odd dream.
